On 23 December 2025, AGB2A-GIC obtained provisional authorisation from the Ministry of Mines and Geology to resume its activities in Boffa and Fria, after several months of suspension. On site, the restart was marked by a reading of the Holy Quran, in the presence of the teams.
From January 2026, extraction regained its pace and the first exports were prepared. The bauxite stockpile built up during the suspension — around 6 million tonnes — allowed shipments from the Port of Kokaya to restart quickly.
In five months, the export rate has tripled: two vessels a month at restart, six today.
A steady ramp-up
In April 2026, the export rate reached around six vessels a month. This progress is built on a production target of 15 to 18 million tonnes for the 2025–2026 period, carried by Guinean bauxite exported to the world's aluminium markets.
A team mobilised in the field
The restart came with a stepped-up mobilisation of the teams in Boffa: internal coordination meetings and the handover of company vehicles to managers, to support day-to-day oversight of operations across an extensive perimeter.
This restart continues the 313 million dollars already invested by AGB2A-GIC in local infrastructure (roads, boreholes, port and school) and confirms the purpose of a mining project that is 100% Guinean, geared towards the export of bauxite.
